Due to unfavorable conditions that prevailed in Afghanistan in the last four decades, this country has not been studied much in terms of hydrogeology. While other countries of the world have made remarkable progress in the application of new scientific methods and new technologies in the management and exploitation of underground water resources. Therefore, in late 2022, a number of experienced groundwater experts decided to establish the Highland Groundwater Research Group for the purpose of conducting scientific and applied research needed by the country's water sector in the field of water resources management, especially groundwater.
